The Story Behind Our First Storefront in Chinatown Los Angeles

The Story Behind Our First Storefront in Chinatown Los Angeles

By Zarah Cheng

“Starting LANG was a product of self-discovery.” Although LANG officially launched in September 2023, founder Kayla Wong has been working on the concept for well over a year. Having grown up in the fashion world, LANG became a collection of experiences, emotions, and insights that have culminated for Kayla since childhood. Opening the retail concept’s first brick-and-mortar store in Chinatown LA has been a homecoming experience of sorts, being able to set up shop in such an iconic place – steeped with history and tradition – and existing at an intersection of culture and identity that resonates so powerfully with LANG itself.

As we take a tour through our neighborhood, exploring the small businesses and meeting the shop owners that we are lucky to call our neighbors, we are filled with a sense of contentment. We are part of something significant. We are proud to be in this neighborhood. And we are thankful for the community that brought us together.

Watch the full film above as we take you through LANG’s journey and introduce you to our neighborhood. You can visit us at 936 N Hill Street, Wednesday to Sunday from 10:30am - 4pm.
