LANG Brought LA to Hong Kong with Party at Cantonese Cocktail Bar, Kinsman

By Zarah Cheng

Last week, LANG brought Los Angeles to Hong Kong with its first official Asia-based celebration of the store. For the event, we partnered with Kinsman, a cocktail salon that celebrates the spirit of Hong Kong through an exclusive use of Cantonese spirits. From the moment that you first step beyond the threshold of the foyer entrance, you are transported into a pocket of Hong Kong that defies time. Inspired by Wong Kar-wai films and the heyday of Hong Kong salon culture, Kinsman is an atemporal sanctuary for friends and lovers alike.

For the event, we also teamed up with Two Moons Distillery, a female-founded, award-winning distillery based in Hong Kong that is the first of its kind in the city. Kinsman crafted a menu of three exclusive LANG cocktails made with Two Moons Distillery gin and as a celebration of cultures, the cocktails were named after either iconic landmarks or legendary pop culture moments from Chinatown LA, the home of LANG’s flagship store.

From “Rush Hour,” made with yuk bing siu (a traditional Cantonese liquor made with steamed rice), walnut sesame purée and citrus, to “Bruce Lee’s Negroni” with roselle liqueur and Campari, and “The Mei Ling Way” with sherry and sparkling jasmine tea (this cocktail also happens to be named after Chinatown LA’s famous street), the libations were delicious and aplenty.

Surrounded by both old and new friends alike, we are once again in awe of our community. We were able to bring together our collective of Hong Kong-founded brands that include ü Jüü, Victoria, YETI OUT, Yat Pit, athenaeum(m.), Affection Blvd, Wavy_Dpt, and CODA and have a homecoming of sorts with other local small business owners, content creators, artists, musicians and beyond. As we came together to celebrate LANG and our new journey as a platform that empowers Asian creators, we feel even more reinvigorated than ever. Thank you once more for supporting us on this wild ride – more LANG things to come.
